Eternal Sevens is a modern reconstruction by designer Hiroken of the traditional shedding card game Sevens (also known as Fan-Tan), published by Tricktakers Games. This is the free browser version: four seats, four colours, and three AI opponents trained by self-play.
Four suits build outwards on the table. On your turn you either play a card adjacent in value to one already on its row, or you pass. There are two ways to take the game:
Those two paths pull against each other, and that tension is the whole game. Drawing a Rare card gives you a wild that fits any open slot, but it also grows your hand and pushes you further from going out.
You cannot pass for free. Each pass spends one of your three single-use pass actions — gain a Rare card, secretly discard a card face down, or trigger an Eternal action — and you place your coloured disc on that icon to mark it spent. Once all three are gone, a turn you cannot play is elimination. Discarding face down is the sharp one: remove the right card and a row can never be completed, so the star block on it is dead for everyone.
Beyond the base game, Eternal cards attach persistent powers to each seat, and Dragon cards unlock two-sided abilities. Some plays hand you an Additional Play Token, letting you put down a second — or third — card in a single turn. Beginner, Standard and Expert modes layer these in gradually, so you can learn the shedding game first and add the rest later.
